Dr. Sushmitha Jakka MD, DM

Dr. Sushmitha Jakka received her undergraduate (MBBS) and post-graduate degrees (MD Pulmonary Medicine) at Andhra Medical College, Visakhapatnam. In addition, she completed her DM in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine from PGIMS, Rohtak, making her the first pulmonologist in Visakhapatnam with a super specialty qualification in Pulmonary Medicine. Her areas of interest are lung cancer, interstitial lung diseases (ILD), respiratory infections including tuberculosis, Asthma, Allergy, and smoking-related lung diseases. She has expertise in interventional pulmonology procedures like bronchoscopy, Endobronchial ultrasonography (EBUS), rigid bronchoscopy, and thoracoscopy. Her research interests include Interstitial Lung Disease and Lung cancer.

She has many publications in various journals and authored more than five textbook chapters in pulmonary and critical care medicine. 
 

She is a co-author of ventilator waves, a mechanical ventilation educational page on social media platforms. She is also a member of the European Respiratory Society, the Indian Chest Society,  and the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine.
